About Manor Road

02 — Background

Manor Road and Manor Close are private roads owned by the Gurney Trust, and managed and maintained by the Manor Road Association (MRA). This is financed through an annual membership subscription, currently £175.

The Spurs (Overdales, Woodlands and Beeches Grove) and Hearn Close are in different ownership and run off Manor Road and Manor Close. The Spurs are maintained at the cost of their own residents, not by the MRA subscription — their Title Deeds say so directly. Hearn Close is owned and maintained by the local authority.

Residents of the Spurs and Hearn Close use Manor Road for access and benefit from the barrier, so they're MRA members too and pay the subscription.

The Gurney TrustLandowner since the late 1800s (Norman William Gurney); became a Charitable Trust in 2000. Managed on their behalf by agents A C Frost & Co since 1965.
What the Trust's covenants coverMaintenance of the verges, and financial contributions if developers seek to build new houses.
MRA & the TrustThe Association works closely with the Gurney Trust's agents to maintain Manor Road, Manor Close and their surroundings.
